If the music of Mari Fróes doesn’t completely stop time, it definitely makes you slow down and appreciate life. It’s the sound of someone swimming in sultry sunlight, sunbathing in a tropical oasis, watching shadows from the trees dance across the pool.
In an interview with PureHoney, Fróes describes her sound as “warm, honest, timeless.” She makes music with intention — each rhythm, breath and silence purposeful. The Brazilian artist blends musica popular brasileira, bossa nova, samba and jazz into something inviting, expansive, cultured and well-traveled.
Nature lives within Fróes’ music. “The sea, the moon, the sun, the wind … I think they constantly find their way into my songs, almost without me noticing,” Fróes says. That connection gives her music soul and organic rhythm — fluid, unhurried and alive, suited to anthem bright blue days or dimly lit nights.
That sound meets South Florida this month at Miami Beach Bandshell. The open-air venue feels like a Latin backyard party; Fróes brings the serenade. Under the palms and open Miami sky, Brazilian rhythms will spill into the salt air, joining the languages, cultures and currents that comprise South Florida’s cadence.
“I’m incredibly excited because this will be one of the first opportunities to share songs from Esquina do Sol with audiences in the United States,” Fróes says of her 2026 debut album. For new listeners, “Eu Vou Pro Samba,” “Reza Braba” and “Rio Lua” offer three doorways into the album before experiencing it live. She promises moments both “intimate and delicate” and “joyful and full of movement.”
It’s music for healing, falling in love, or searching for it — or simply becoming more present in your own life. Her songs invite listeners to travel without moving and find beauty in stillness. Come alone. Come with someone you love. Come knowing every lyric or discovering Fróes for the first time. “Come with an open heart!” Fróes exclaims. “You don’t need to understand Portuguese to connect with my music. Emotion has its own language.”
