This year, attendees of the 2016 B.E. Easy Music Festival can look forward to a fine lineup of national touring bands like Keller (Williams) and the Keels, Michael Menert & The Pretty Fantastics, and a Beatles tribute by The Heavy Pets. You’ll also be treated to the psychedelic funk fusion of Displace out of Tampa, The Funky Nuggets from Palm Beach, and Orlando’s Ancient Sun.
Food trucks and vendors will be close at hand with vegetarian treats from Veggie Love, seafood from What’s the Catch out of Jacksonville, and more to satisfy any appetite.
The B.E. Easy Musical Festival has been described by some as an unconventional outreach opportunity. Admid the awesome music and food trucks are a series of workshops and onsite licensed counselors ready to speak with anyone struggling with addiction.
The festival motto is ‘Open Dialogue Saves Lives.’ Festival and B.E. Easy Scholarship Fund founder Mary Jane Evans says, “If people talk about it, they’re more likely to seek help. And we want to be that resource.”
New to the B.E. Easy series of workshops will be explorations through songwriting, dance, and art therapy along with yoga and other healing activities.
All monies raised by the festival go to the B.E. Easy Scholarship Fund which helps young people struggling with addiction and mental health issues. They’re able to do that because the event is 100% volunteer run. Many of those are repeat volunteers and sponsors like Avalon Recovery or local companies like Elegant Parties who approached the festival with a donation rental of all the tents and tables.
“I never thought I would be doing anything like this,” Mary says, “But every year, we get people coming out of the woodwork saying ‘Yes, we need to be a part of this’.”
The 4th Annual B.E. Easy Musical Festival takes place Saturday February 6, 11am-11pm at Bryant Park in Lake Worth. Keller & The Keels, Michael Menert & The Pretty Fantastics, The Heavy Pets perform Walrus: A Beatles Tribute, Unlimited Devotion, Funky Nuggets, Ancient Sun, Displace, Guavatron, Ancient Sun.
